Brethren of Anchor Lodge 1337 with Companions from Anchor Chapter 1337, WHIPS 9807 and brethren of The Order of The Secret Monitor, from Centenary Conclave 347 and Roseberry Conclave 442 have been supporting the Salvation Army's Annual Toy Appeal, for the benefit of local children and families.
By working together the Brethren and Companions of these Orders were able to increase the support for this years appeal.
And so on behalf of all the brethren and companions, W.Bro Dave Sanders, aided by his little helper Sophie, who had used her special skills, only available to those of younger years, ( some would say eight but as she would tell them, 'actually I am almost nine') helping to choose the gifts, was able to deliver over 70 parcels and the sum of £60 to the Salvation Army in Thirsk .
These gifts will ensure that children in the local area will wake to a happier Christmas morning than they might have done.
Below is part of an email from the Salvation Army Officers in response to the gifts received.
"Please convey our sincere thanks to everyone at the Masons who participated in our "Be a Star" Christmas Toy Appeal this year. We were delighted to receive such an amazing donation of lovely toys and gifts, and greatly appreciate the time and effort involved in choosing them all.
Thank you, too, for the donation of £60 cash, which enabled us to purchase some appropriate gifts for babies and older teenagers.
As I'm sure you understand, there are many struggling families in our community, some of whom are experiencing unexpected crisis for a wide number of reasons. Your generosity will bring brightness and joy to many children in such families, as they open their Christmas gifts."
